From Research to Reality: Stealth 13.2C Owner Review
For the past two months, I have been the proud owner of Panta Rhei, a Stealth 13.2C catamaran built by Asia Catamarans.
For many years, I searched for a liveaboard-capable catamaran with truly exceptional sailing performance. My personal definition of performance was simple: a catamaran capable of sailing at wind speed or beyond — especially in lighter true wind conditions.
It seemed almost impossible to combine these two worlds: genuine high-performance sailing together with the comfort and practicality required for serious liveaboard cruising.
With the Stealth 13.2C, Asia Catamarans achieved exactly that.
One of my biggest concerns was committing to having a catamaran built by a company located on the other side of the world. I believe many people dreaming of building a new catamaran share this concern. Trust and integrity become absolutely essential when committing your life savings to a project thousands of miles away.
From the very first moment I walked into the Asia Catamarans office in Chalong, I felt reassured. Meeting Alan Carwardine, Roger Dinggelmann, Zam Bevan, and Peter Wanner immediately gave me the impression that I was dealing with a team of exceptional integrity. It became clear very quickly that, within this team, a handshake still carries real value.
Throughout the entire build process, the experience was remarkably transparent and highly customer-oriented. The team was always approachable, responsive, and genuinely committed to accommodating personal preferences and individual requests. In fact, I am thankful they even talked me out of some of my own ideas.
One of the things that impressed me most — perhaps influenced by my own background — was the ingenuity behind both the design and construction. Throughout the boat, there are countless practical and fail-safe solutions that reflect real-world sailing experience, thoughtful engineering, and years of expertise in the demanding world of racing. It is obvious these boats are designed not only for performance, but also for reliability, simplicity, low maintenance, and practical long-term ownership.
The sail plan is powerful even under jib alone, but when you deploy the Code Zero or hoist the spinnaker, the boat truly comes alive. The acceleration is immediate and puts a genuine smile on your face every single time.
Another thing the Asia Catamarans team does exceptionally well is creating a true sense of community. Once you become a Stealth owner, you are not simply buying a boat — you become part of a family united by a strong sense of cohesion, support, and shared passion for sailing.
