Stealth 13s  ‘Bliss 2’ Launched 1st November 2024

After 2 years of finalizing a new roof design and working with our customers’ busy schedules, the day came on Friday 1st November at 10 o’clock.  Asia Catamarans launched a new all-carbon 13S. With an impressive race package, sail away weight of 3545kg.

What is impressive about this new boat is that Asia Cats has redesigned the rooftop, allowing for more solar panels to meet our customer’s electrical requirements. The new roof shape also increases the opportunity to catch fresh water. With this in mind, installing big heavy water makers reduces the extra weight. The side walls take on a more modern and vertical profile; this brings extra vision throughout the saloon area and reduces any sun ingress, keeping the area cool and comfortable on those summer days.

Bliss 2 has a simple layout:

Two double berths, two single fwd berths, two heads and an open saloon cockpit with a tri-fold doorway. Fridge/freezer, induction stove in galley and settee with the forward walk-through rooftop opening. Only one luxury requirement was met: installing aircon ducted into the main hulls.

The Stealth’s light displacement is a constant driving force behind the Stealth DNA catamarans, and Bliss 2 is no exception. Bliss 2 brief was simple: “fast and light”. It is designed to race but also be comfortable for short-hand cruising.

Working with the owner, we decided to look at electric drives. Opting out of the standard 30Hp outboards, Bliss 2 has two Torqeedo 6kva outboards, 8.5 Hp, minimizing the weight in the aft area of the boat. This is the first model to take on this concept, so both the owner and Asia catamarans are excited to start collecting data and gauging the performance and efficiency that Torqeedo will bring. Minimise the weight as much as possible to meet the owner’s demands. The all-carbon Stealth consists of a 17m carbon mast, twin helm wheels, toilets, stanchions, handrails, and all carbon and titanium used in some areas.

The first days of sail testing proved impressive, with the boat at wind speeds and tacking on a dime. Well balanced and with a top speed of 18knts.

The owner later commented that it was so comfortable that he did not realise that we had topped out at 18knts in the light conditions.

Stealth Owners Testimonials

Meet Bob McIntyre, owner of ‘Allegro’:

“9 years cruising the Andaman Sea from as far south as Port Klang in Malaysia north to the Surin islands in Thailand. There are many magnificent islands, glorious beaches, and great snorkelling areas to enjoy and explore. It would be hard to beat this area for sailing in the high season, especially when the NE breeze is blowing. There is nothing like the thrill of being under full sail in 20+ knots of wind in a flat sea. As Alan promised me, “Your champagne won’t spill on a catamaran”. Peter Wilcox, owner of the 2018 Stealth 12, ‘Cosmo‘ based in Australia

“Roger, Alan, and the boys at Asia Cats have created a beautiful boat that is versatile and satisfying to the racing ego and the cruising family. There is plenty of room with full amenities, and it is easy to handle when shorthanded”. There is more about Cosmo here.

Helen Ruud and David Liddell chatting about ‘Wow’

“In 2016, we started our Blue Water cruise across the Indian Ocean, heading for S Africa and the Cape to Rio Race in January 2017.

In 2018, we cruised the Caribbean and were able to fit in some races, including the Caribbean 600 and the Heineken Regatta in St Maarten (which we won!!)”. Please read the full story about their circumnavigation.
